How else can we use this information?
This biomechanical information can be used to determine how
to coach a gymnast to perform a round off back somersault with the correct
technique. You can also use this information for other floor tumbling lines
that involve a lot more tumbles and turns. To perform these you will need even
more speed, acceleration and momentum to complete all tumbles successfully.
Newton’s Laws can apply to all other gymnastics apparatus like the balance
beam, parallel bars, uneven bars, rings and vault. We need to use the force of
the earth or other objects to receive an equal or opposite force to gain height
to perform gymnastics skills. This information needs to be considered by all gymnasts
to perform skills successfully. Other factors like equipment and environment
can change the outcome of the skills, especially if a spring floor is used
during a tumbling line or round off back somersault because it bounces back
when you add force to it therefore not as much force is needed to gain the
right amount of height to execute the skill.
